DAY 1: FRIDAY
DAY TRIP – GREAT BARRIER REEF – SNORKEL
Meet your guide this morning at 6.30am for breakfast and introductions before we head to the Cairns jetty at 7.15am and prepare for our day on the reef. Most foreign or Australian guests have well and truly heard about the Great Barrier Reef and the magnificent East Coast … and now you’re going to start to see what all the hype is about. With maximum groups of 28, our Tusa Dive cruise will ensure a nice personal trip to carefully chosen snorkeling destinations approximately 1.5 hours from the coastline. (Intro + Certified divers can choose to upgrade and do a dive at their own cost). From colourful clown (Nemo) fish, turtles, parrot fish - to octopus and more – the reef is an absolute visual delight. An underwater camera is a good idea, and also, the boat has a professional photographer on board who sells underwater images after the day.
DAY 2: SATURDAY
TRAVEL DAY TO AIRLIE BEACH
Today will largely be spent getting you to Airlie Beach, and covering miles of picturesque coastline while aiming to reach our home for the night by around 6.oopm. We’ll go via Jourama Falls and enjoy a short hike and a swim or alternatively drop in and see Mission Beach - depending on time. After lunch we’ll head through Townsville and Bowen and into Airlie Beach as the sun sets. You will get a hint as to why this bohemian village is renowned as Queensland’s coastal playground as we drive in past the glimmering yachts and festive crowd … Tonight, everybody can enjoy a top quality meal and drink at Beaches Hotel and soak up the very festive atmosphere.
DAY 3: SUNDAY
OCEAN RAFTING – AIRLIE BEACH
See Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday Islands by day today … and then by ocean, as we head out with the guaranteed small groups on the well reputed & adventure packed ‘Ocean Rafting’ boats. Giant rubber boats with twin outboard engines – these machines literally fly over the waves and allow a ‘three days in one’ tour around the group of small islands that make up the ‘Whitsundays’. A snorkeling tour is included, as is a picnic lunch and relaxing afternoon at world famous Whitehaven Beach. Make sure you have the camera batteries charged as this tour is absolutely filled with picture perfect scenery. Tonight, join the crew for some more festivities and relaxing.
DAY 4: MONDAY
AIRLIE BEACH – AGNES WATER / 1770
Today we travel further south from Airlie Beach, aiming to reach the historical area of Agnes Water / 1770 by mid afternoon. Agnes Water is home to the first surf beach on our journey south and is a great place to learn to surf. Hire a surf board this afternoon or take a walk along the beach before enjoying a BBQ tonight.
DAY 5: TUESDAY

After a leisurely departure, we continue southwards via Bundaberg to Susan River Homestead situated between Hervey Bay and Maryborough.

DAY 6 & 7: WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY
FRASER ISLAND 2 DAY FULLY GUIDED 4WD TOUR
These next two days are often the highlight and pinnacle of the 13 day tour. Your 4WD terrain bus will collect you early and you will travel with a group no larger than 20 for your two days. The bus will take you across the barge from the mainland onto Fraser Island and your official Island tour should begin around 9.00am. Fraser Island is the world’s largest sand island and stretches for some 170km of flat glorious gold sand and rolling surf. Tour buses and any kind of vehicle you can imagine use these sand highways, and it’s not uncommon for a plane to drop out of the sky and land either! Many travelers find this a really unique and fun experience, as the island boasts a very casual and festive atmosphere. Also, the island is extremely diverse in its scenery; and in addition to the beachfront - offers huge forest areas, fresh water lagoons, and rolling desert dunes to explore. Famous Fraser icons such as the dingo may be seen, and during July to October, whales are a common sight. High vantage points at Indian Head allows a full survey of the surf below, and you might be lucky enough to spot lurking sharks or dolphins. Whatever you do see, these two days are visually so spectacular you are guaranteed a memorable trip. Accommodation on tour is small bungalows set amongst the natural scenery. On day two your tour will finish mid afternoon and we’ll leave the mainland and head for Brisbane and aim to arrive around 6pm. |
